I'm blaming both sides for this debacle! It's not like the union demands were a secret! It could have been settled months ago with both sides committed to meaningful negotiation to arrive at a suitable compromise. I'm not interested at finger pointing at one side or the other. They are already blaming each other!
Watching the situation, I can see many users faced with selecting another delivery service not returning to Canada Post after the strike. Canada Post will lose business and have to downsize. I don't think Canada Post should make money no more than the police forces or fire departments should make money. They offer a service to all Canadians and a certain amount of our tax dollars should pay for that! Canada Post costs our federal government millions each year! But there is a limit!
I really believe that if this strike continues at this time of year it will ultimately seriously affect Canada Post's business model and make them even less viable as a business than they are now. That situation will likely cost many postal employees their jobs and reduce service to outlaying or isolated areas.
A lose-lose situation for all Canadians!
